C/U of a man trying to stroke a penguin - he doesn't look too pleased. "The "Discovery" was exploring these icy regions near the South Pole for nearly two years (1925-27)." Panning shot of the landscape (rather dark on this print). Various shots of icebergs and views from the boat.
"Approaching Anvers Island, the "Discovery Expedition" found that what was formerly thought to be a Bay was in reality a Channel. So they named it "Discovery Channel". Views from the boat. "Almost as far South as a ship can get - Wiencke Island - close to the great Ice Continent." Panning shot which shows the Discovery in front of icy landscape. "And in these waters you occasionally have company - bottle-nosed whales, for instance." M/S of whales moving through the water.
