Business and academics place strong value on transformational ’leadership’ versus ’management’. Leadership is an executive’s ability to inspire, motivate, and develop others. This is often in contrast to, or even at the expense of, managers, who budget, hire, and supervise. New research concludes that the unconditional love for leaders can be tempered when organisations take more time to make decisions. This can help to overcome a relatively fast and automatic dislike for managers.
