I was in a hurry one day and did not have much time to get my ribs smoked. So the is how to smoke baby back ribs on a Traeger pellet grill, quick and easy! I cranked up my Traeger grill to 275 degrees and off I went.
To start, I trimmed the membrane off the back side of the baby back ribs. If you don't, there will be a crispy, nearly uneatable piece of skin that is unpleasant. It is easiest to peel up one end of the membrane with a butter knife, then grab onto it with a paper towel and pull it completely off. If you're lucky, you'll get all in one pull!
Then I added my seasoning. In this video I am using pork rub from Meat Mitch. It's a company out of Kansas City. They are truly great people. Check them out if you'd like [ Ссылка ] And I regularly use Traeger rubs on my baby back ribs also. They are several Traeger rubs to choose from. Just fine one you like!
Next, I added some of our Chigger Creek Apple/Hickory blend wood chips, get 'em here [ Ссылка ] into my smokin' wedgie. I filled it up and lit one end of the wedgie with a propane torch until I had a good fire going (about 60-90 seconds). This will smolder inside the cooker for about an hour, then you can just add more chips as needed.
Placed the ribs on and set smoker to 275 degrees. This will bounce around from 260-275 depending on how much you open the door. Remember, if you're lookin', you ain't cookin! I also spritzed the ribs with apple juice every 30 minutes to keep the ribs moist.
After 2 hours at 275 I wrapped the ribs in foil and added brown sugar, honey and melted butter. This helps tenderize the ribs, keep them moist and adds some amazing flavor.
Then back on the Traeger at 275 degrees for 2 more hours until tender. You can pull on the rib bones to check for tenderness. If they start to pull away from the meat easily, you know they're done! You can put them back on the pit for 15 minutes or so unwrapped to help firm them up a bit.
Then slice with the meat side down. This allows you to make nice cuts in between the bones.
Now you're ready to invite your friends over for some great ribs you just made. Just be careful, they'll want to come over all the time!
