Chief Scientist Carl Nelson show the team at FOX 2 Detroit how to launch water bottles filled with water and liquid nitrogen from their bare hands.
The bottle is filled with water and then topped off with a bit of liquid nitrogen. When the bottle is quickly inverted the liquid nitrogen (which is less dense than the water) floats to the top and expands nearly 800 times in volume. This very quickly forces the water out of the bottle and propels the bottle at speeds of 70-100 mph.
