(21 Aug 1952) Tragedy - sudden and appalling - descends upon the little seaside resort of Lynmouth. The havoc caused by the gentle streams, now raging torrents, transformed the village almost beyond recognition. Some eye-witnesses give account of the night of horror. Help came quickly, of course, as soon as the tragedy was known, and the ceaseless efforts of people from the local town of Lynton were supplemented by the Army, the Red Cross and WVS.
