Derby College/Noel Baker School’s Leighton Elliott-Sewell has been named the EABL Player of the Week for Week 6 of the 207-18 season.
Elliott-Sewell went 8 of 15 from the floor and finished with 20 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 2 blocks whilst leading Derby to a 79-76 upset win in Overtime over previously undefeated Myerscough College.
“I was really pleased with my performance and also all my teammates,” Elliott-Sewell said.
“Really it’s an award for all of us, because we all gave everything we had to try and win the game. It’s nice to win this award, I think I’ve been playing pretty well lately, I’ve worked a lot of my perimeter game and it feels like that’s definitely paid off.
“I should also give a shout out to Tzion, he killed it at the end of the game and in overtime. It felt great to win against a team as good as Myerscough.”
Derby Head Coach Matt Shaw added:
“Leighton had another excellent performance, I’m so pleased the with the way he’s playing right now. He is finding a lot of ways to help the team, rebounding, defending key threats and carrying the scoring load too. It’s a testament to the hard work he’s put in.”
