RTÉ News reports on the death of renowned Northern Irish climber and mountaineer Noel Hanna.
A native of Dromara in County Down, Hanna climbed the highest point on all seven continents, including climbing Mount Everest a total of ten times during his career, and, in 2018, he became the first person from the island of Ireland to successfully summit and descend K2.
On 17th April 2023, Hanna scaled the 8,091 metre-high Annapurna peak in the Himalayas in north-central Nepal, and died shortly afterwards after he descended from the peak. He was only 56 years old.
