On September 18, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a ban on e-cigarettes.

Its a complete ban from manufacturing, distribution, import and export, etc. the ordinance that was passed by the government recognises the violation of the ban as cognizable offences with jail time.

Sitharaman cited US data which said that there was a 77.8 percent increase in use of e-cigarettes in school students.
