How a deadly biological warfare pathogen was accidentally released in the city of Sverdlovsk.
On April 2 (presumably), 1979, an accident occurred at a Soviet military research facility in the city of Sverdlovsk, where spores of Bacillus anthracis were released into the surrounding area. This incident led to an outbreak of anthrax, resulting in the deaths of at least 68 people, with the actual number of victims possibly being higher. For years, the Soviet authorities denied the true cause of the outbreak.
Pardon my pronunciation of the word "Anthrax".
*[10:30] - Pulmonary anthrax incubation period should be 1–3 days (though it can be longer).
