Getting away from steam power, Dennis visits Jay Leno and checks out a lineup of his fast cars, from McLaren P1, Mercedes SLR McLaren, an Ariel Atom, and a Lotus Elan! Then, Jay takes Dennis for a spin in his McLaren P1! Leading of with "The Rocket", it's 775 pounds, 147 Hp, has a 12 speed gear box, and is the size of a cigar. A 165 MPH coffin that has the look of a vintage racer. The Lotus Elan is another example of "extremely light weight", with a 1,500 pound fiberglass body. The Ariel Atom, of course, will straighten anyone's mustache, including one as powerful as Dennis'. All good tastes of speed, but getting into the McLaren's we also get as much luxury as performance. The '05 Mercedes McLaren is an ultimate road car, with Gordon Murray having a hand in that as well. With a bulletproof front "mid engine" V8, it's the ultimate GT with great road clearance and performance, and can consistently run over 200 MPH. Still a very Mercedes body though. When you think of McLaren, you more often think of the body style present in the F1. Now we're getting into supercar. This is Gordon Murray's opus, considered one of the greatest of all time, and quite possibly the last road car that you could drive to Le Mans, enter the race, WIN (which it did), and then drive home. 627 HP, a bespoke BMW V12, and weighs the same as a Mazda Miatta, it's a piece of history that isn't history quite yet. The McLaren 12C is the first full out McLaren road car to be built in any successful number. Twin turbo, 615 HP, carbon fiber tub, and a beautiful volcanic orange color, it's easy to see why. Oh, but the P1....903 HP, it's actually a hybrid car with an electric supercharger that eliminates any turbo lag. All boost, torque fill, brake fill, this is the most amazing road car Jay has ever driven. Unbelievable! With the wheels all the way out to the corners, it needs the bright yellow color to warn you before it blows by. This will straighten Dennis' mustache with the windows rolled up!
