All smart meters, including SMETS1 and SMETS2, allow you to switch energy supplier and will ultimately make the process easier, faster, and more reliable.

Some SMETS1 meters may temporarily lose some smart functionality after switching – however, they are all being connected to the bespoke secure data network run by the Data Communications Company (DCC) to help enable faster and smoother switching.
