This is just one way to install Schaller BML Light Bass Tuners on a Warmoth neck. I did this procedure on the Quartersawn Wenge and Ebony with Jazz Bass headstock in the video and a Quartersawn Roasted Maple with Tele headstock in the audio. I tried the template printout from Schaller's website, but it did not correspond to the actual size for some reason. I suppose a template could be made from the completed headstocks. But the impression on the masking tape method seems to work reasonably well. As you can see, the BML Light tuners are slightly less than half the weight of vintage style, and they fine tune better. No more neck dive. And what a difference that makes in making the instrument easier to play.
Audio is quartersawn, roasted maple Warmoth neck on my Warmoth jazz bass body on the Lollar bridge pickup with Schaller BML Lights using AdrenaLinn III for speaker simulation.
Besides lighter tuning machines to eliminate neck dive, if drilling new holes is not an issue, reposition the bottom strap button up to balance the instrument..
The diameter of the tuner's studs are about 4.83mm, but the drill bit I used was 13/64" so it does not stress out the wood.
