From the humble beginnings of Interplay's Fallout, to the Black Isle Studio masterpiece Fallout 2, the spinoffs and failures in-between (Fallout Tactics, Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel and the 'Van Buren' project), its long-awaited Bethesda-developed reboot: Fallout 3, the revered sidestep Fallout: New Vegas by Obsidian Entertainment, and finally to the latest entry Fallout 4 and what the future may hold for the Fallout franchise.

Join me on this adventure to find out where the series got it right, where it misstepped, and why I believe that despite technological improvements and innovations over the years, the series has taken a turn for the worse both in atmosphere and setting, and its focus on simplification over player choice, agency and freedom.

And hopefully you'll agree with me on my treatise that modern Fallout isn't Fallout.
