The indigenous people of Hawai’i are no strangers to language revitalisation. Thirty years ago only 2,000 people could speak their native tongue fluently, and only 35 under the age of 18. Pere Wihongi visits Ka Haka ʻUla o Keʻelikōlani, a total immersion section of the University of Hawai’i Ki Hilo where they share their journey of reviving the Hawai'ian language and acknowledge the contributions of Timoti Karetu and Sir Tamati Reedy.
