Check out these 3 incredible koi ponds! Welcome, today we visit Shaun Gee.

I recently visited Shaun and he very kindly let me film his set-up. Here is a brief description of his ponds.

He has 3 ponds, the largest is 10,500 gallons, another at 6000 gallons and the smaller one is 2000 gallons.

The 10,500-gallon pond has 2 bottom drains and one skimmer.

The 6000-gallon pond has 2 bottom drains and one skimmer.

The 2000 gallon pond has one bottom drain and one skimmer.

The ponds are filtered with a combination of Profi Drums, 3 custom made moving bed filters and Bakki Showers.

The moving bed filters were manufactured by JBR Plastics and contain 800, 500, and 250 litres of k1.

The Bakki showers contain Bakki House Media.

Shaun enjoys growing on his koi and all the large koi have been grown on from small sizes.

He has purchased most of his koi from The Oaks Koi Farm, Barnsley Koi and Chris Masters.

Shaun feeds a combination of Coppens Top Koi and OSW.

On a personal note, getting to visit Shaun's set-up was an absolute pleasure. Seeing someone taking high quality but small koi and growing them on to the sizes he has is pretty incredible. It may get lost through the camera but most of the koi in his main pond is absolutely huge. The biggest being mid 80cm and not much in that pond is far behind. The effort he has gone to to provide the best possible systems for his koi is pretty inspiring stuff. In our chat, he did mention that he is thinking of starting to sell some koi, if that day comes I would definitely put it on the list to visit if I was you.
