Touareg - New dimensions and reduced weight. Compared to its predecessor, the third generation Touareg is moderately wider and longer. The new dimensions have positive effects on both the vehicle's proportions and its amount of interior space. The added exterior length leads, for example, to a significant increase in luggage capacity, from 697 to 810 litres (with rear bench seat up). Cargo there is hidden from onlookers by an optional electrically extending and retracting luggage compartment cover. Despite its increased length and width, the car body is 106 kg lighter because of its mixed material construction of aluminium (48 per cent) and high-tech steels (52 per cent).
Launch with V6 engines. In Europe, Volkswagen will initially offer two V6 diesel engines for the new 2018 Touareg with outputs of 170 kW / 231 PS and 210 kW / 286 PS. In a number of markets, this will also be followed by a V6 petrol engine (250 kW / 340 PS) and a V8 turbodiesel (310 kW / 421 PS). A new plug-in hybrid drive (270 kW / 367 PS of system power) is being prepared for China; its exact launch date in Europe is still open.
A focus on people. Drivers use the Innovision Cockpit to adapt the assistance, handling and comfort systems specifically to their personal tastes; the car becomes their Touareg. This opens up a world in which the driver and on-board guests no longer have to adapt to the car; rather the car adapts to them. Like a new smartphone, the Volkswagen is set up and tuned to personal needs. This is made possible by a new high level of connected systems and programmes - controlled via digital interfaces and the multifunction steering wheel.
XC90
Volvo already enjoys a reputation for providing the most comfortable seats in the industry. The new XC90 enhances this reputation by offering innovatively designed seats that also free up interior space for passengers both in the second and third seat rows, helping to make the new XC90 a genuine 7-seater.
The full seat core has an ergonomic shape that resembles the human spine. A multitude of adjustment possibilities makes it possible for the individual user to create an ideal seating position. The new seats are available with adjustable side bolsters, seat cushion extension and massage.

The seats in the third row offer class-leading comfort for passengers with a height up to 170 cm.
The XC90 is powered by Volvo’s Drive-E powertrains, including petrol, diesel and Volvo’s T8 Twin Engine, a petrol plug-in hybrid mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Volvo’s T8 Twin Engine delivers all the benefits of a high performance, low emission petrol engine with an electric motor that delivers power on demand with CO2 emissions at just 49 g/km, more than 43 km of pure electric range and a combined power output of around 410 hp. This makes the XC90 T8 Twin Engine one of the most efficient and powerful 7-seater premium SUVs on the market today.
When it comes to driving dynamics, the XC90 gives the smooth, solid ride of a premium SUV combined with sharp handling and response. There is a completely new chassis, front and rear.
There are a double wishbone front suspension and a new integral link rear axle that also features a new transverse leaf spring, made of lightweight material. The XC90 can also be equipped with electronically controlled air suspension with a choice of five modes.
Unrivalled combination of power and fuel efficiency
The new XC90 offers a range of two-litre, four-cylinder Drive-E powertrains, all of which provide an outstanding combination of performance and fuel-efficiency.
The top of the range XC90 Twin Engine, which combines a supercharged and turbocharged petrol engine with an electric motor, offers an unrivalled combination of power and clean operation: 400 horsepower with carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions of 59 g/km (NEDC driving cycle).
Normal driving is conducted in the default hybrid mode. But at the push of a button the driver can switch to quiet and emission-free city driving on pure electric power where the range will be more than 40 kilometres, and then, when needed, immediately revert back to the combined capacity of the petrol engine and electric motor. Combined maximum torque is 640 Nm, making the XC90 accelerate from 0 to 100 in 5.9 seconds.
Full range of other engine options
The Volvo XC90 range also includes the D5 twin turbo diesel engine with 225 hp, 470 Nm, best in class fuel consumption of 5.7l/100 km and the D4 turbo diesel engine with 190 hp, 400 Nm and a fuel consumption of 5.3l/100 km.
The range also offers two petrol engine options. The first is a T6 engine with supercharger and turbo with 320 hp and a maximum torque of 400 Nm. The second is a T5 with 254 hp and 350 Nm.
