The quintessential PC action adventure of all time has just been re-released on GOG for 5,99$. Little-known Belgian developer Appeal's massively ambitious Outcast had a huge immediate impact on the gaming community back in 1999 and showed convincingly that the PC still remained the primary platform for truly epic and ground-breaking games. The revolutionary voxel-based graphics engine, huge and suprisingly believable world, orchestral soundtrack and stellar sound design all seemed to go beyond what anyone had previously seen in a computer game. Still to this day, Outcast remains an impressively good-looking and eminently playable action adventure hybrid with a near-perfect combination of combat, dialogue and open world exploration.
