(VO) The ASEAN Business Awards-ABA 2016 gives away to outstanding ASEAN enterprises for their excellent contribution.
Intro: The ASEAN Business Awards or ABA 2016 was held by the ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN-BAC) in collaboration with co-organizers to present awards to outstanding companies for their excellent contribution to ASEAN. Of all the winners, seven Lao enterprises from different sectors were awarded under many categories.
Story: The ASEAN Business Awards or ABA 2016 was held on September 5, 2016 in Vientiane, where attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Somdy Douangdy, and Minister of Industry and Commerce, Madame Khemmani Pholsena.
On the occasion of the ABIS 2016 in Vientiane this year, the ASEAN-BAC and co-organizers presented the ABA to excellent and outstanding companies who have been contributing hugely to the promotion of priority sectors of the ASEAN region.
The ABA are divided into different categories, namely the AEC Priority Integration Sector Excellence Awards,
Lao Priority Sector Excellence Awards,
SME Excellence Awards,
CLMV SME Excellence Awards,
Young Entrepreneur Award, Women Entrepreneur Award,
Outstanding Women Leader in a STEM Business Award, Outstanding Women Entrepreneur in a STEM Business Award,
Best Innovative SME Award,
and Friend of ASEAN Award.

There were several outstanding awards given to Lao companies. Under the AEC Priority Integration Sector, Dao Heuang Group came as a runner-up for agro-based,
Lao IT Development as a winner for E-ASEAN/ICT with Datacom came in second place for the same category, and Lao Freight Forwarder as a winner for logistic.
While Luangpaseuth Construction alone won both the infrastructure and energy excellence awards of the Lao Priority Sector,
Maliny Group and Datacom both came as a runner-up for growth and innovation respectively under the CLMV SME Excellence Awards.
Lastly, ANZ Bank (Laos) won the first place of Friend of ASEAN.

The ABA were conceived to be the first of their kind in the region with the dual objectives of recognizing outstanding ASEAN enterprises, and to serve as a platform to spread information concerning the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC). The ABA also brings to the spotlight of promising ASEAN small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that have the potential of becoming global economic players.
Since its establishment by ASEAN Leaders in 2003, the ASEAN-BAC has been active in promoting public-private sector partnership and consultation to assist the integration of the AEC.
In its efforts to bridge ASEAN Governments with their private sector, the Council launched the ABA in 2007 to give recognition to companies that have contributed to the growth and prosperity of the ASEAN economy.
