If you’re looking for great handling, decently protective case at a decent price, you should check out the Smartish Gripzilla.
In fact, it’s probably my favourite Smartish case out of their current collection. Mostly because it has humps like a lizard or a dinosaur. Or Godzilla!

When it comes to size, the Gripzilla is larger than the average case because of the oversized corners. The corners do not extend past the front edge of the case, unlike your typical Mous or Ballistic case. The fit of the case is acceptable but I feel that the edges of the case need to be a bit more rigid. I’ll elaborate in a bit.
The edges of the case are made from TPU while the back is PC. Now the PC back, on the inside of the case, has a rubber finish. Most cases have a microfibre back while, terrible case manufacturers have nothing and Smartish went with rubber. There is a bit of give so I’m going to assume it’s to reduce the possibility of something scratching the back of your device.
Now Smartish is the only company I’ve come across that leaves a website specifically for it’s patents on the inside of the case. Being the inquisitive mind that he is, Monty said that I had to go through all the patents that Smartish has.
The Gripzilla wont slide around easily on the front or the back. The case is going to hold up well to wear and tear as the finish of the case is going to hide everyday wear and tear fairly well. And the finish on this case, is something else. It just works.
The humps on the case, with the texture of the case makes it awesome to use. Kudos to Smartish for actually doing something a little different. The texture plus the contours for the grip make this case a joy to you use.
When it comes to functionality, I generally had no issues with accessing the iPhone. There are holes where holes are suppose to be. Generally.
BUT with the looser edges, I noticed that pressing the buttons would result in the entire edge moving. This isn’t typical of cases of this size.
Smartish has also included a cutout for a wrist strap which is great BUT the loose edges become a problem for that feature as you can easily pull the case off the device. That seems like a bad idea for a $2000 pocket computer.
Now these loose edges also translates into poorer face drops. Why? Because loose edges mean the case comes off first, leaving your poor iPhone to absorb all of the shock. Here’s my super scientific way of describing this issue.
I’m going to smack the case into my palm. And look the case comes off the corner.
