No Way Yirrikipayi! is the story of a hungry crocodile that goes searching for food on Melville Island. Along the way he encounters both land and sea animals. Written in both Tiwi and English, this delightful, humorous book is beautifully illustrated and will appeal to all ages. It was written and developed in workshops lead by Alison Lester, ILF Lifetime Ambassador and the former Children's Laureate of Australia.
Nina Black is an Elder from Tiwi Islands, doing remarkable work in her community to preserve and revitalise her language and culture. Working with our Foundation, she has helped children in her community create stories which are now published and available through our Community Publishing Project.
Big thanks to VAMPtv and Northern Territory Music School for putting together this episode of Rising Star - featuring Nina Black reading from No Way Yirrikipayi! Rising Star is an Indigenous early childhood web series from the Northern Territory Music School in Darwin.
