MURA:The first news of its existence dates from the year 978. Around the church of Sant Martí, already documented in 1088, the first houses of this picturesque town began to rise, which still retains all its medieval charm.
Historically, work in the field was the main dedication of its people; Especially important was the cultivation of grapes, which from the 18th century displaced the more traditional forms of agriculture. This was an especially arduous task given the mountainous characteristics of the land, partly solved by the construction of wineries between the vines, which were used for the press and fermentation of the grapes. Already entered the nineteenth century, phylloxera ended the vineyards and caused a significant decline in the population.
Another important task, until the mid-twentieth century, was the production of charcoal, until the moment when electricity determined its disappearance.
Since then, its people have been engaged in other kinds of work in line with the new times. Thus, a textile factory was installed at the beginning of the 20th century, which was in operation until 1964. Logically, its closure had important socio-economic consequences in the life of the people, determining the emigration of the population towards industrial cities or to neighboring towns. Since then, Mura's physiognomy has been transformed into a town with a large number of second homes, laying the foundations for a potential tourism tradition.
Precisely, with the new jobs and income earned from tourism, the creation of the Sant Llorenç del Munt i l'Obac Natural Park was very relevant, in 1972. Since then the number of tourists and visitors increased. It does not escape anyone that, as in many other municipalities in Catalonia, tourism could guarantee the future of the town and its population center.
TALAMANCA is a Catalan municipality in the region of Bages belonging to the province of Barcelona, in Spain, located within the Natural Park of Sant Llorenç del Munt i l'Obac.Although remains of Iberian deposits have been found, the first news of its existence dates back to 960 when Salla, the founder of the monastery of San Benito de Bages, donates land and houses at the end of Talamanca Castle. Between 878 and 897, when Count Borrell and Wifredo el Velloso repopulated the military, peasants from the north settled near castles and churches and repopulated the area. At that time the foundation of the Castle of Talamanca and the Church of Santa María de Talamanca should have taken place already cited in 1038. The construction of houses between the castle and the church gave rise to the current town of Talamanca.
