This video will help you to get started with your STEM OPT I-20 Application! People with degree in STEM- Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics are eligible for a 24-month extension after the expiry of their 12-month EAD. The steps involved in renewing your EAD card are:

1. OPT Reporting- Make sure you have reported all your employment information/ changes at your university portal within 10 days. This is a really important step so make sure you complete it first before starting the STEM OPT application. Refer to this video if you are a student from Purdue: [ Ссылка ]

2. Filling out Form I-983: The next step is to start filling out the Form I-983. This is a form that is to be filled by both you and your employer. Start filling it in advance as this form requires signatures from your manager/ HR.

3. Filling out Form I-765: It is quite similar to how you completed this form during your initial OPT application.

4. Getting your STEM OPT I-20: Once you have filled out both the forms stated above, the next step is to get your I-20 from your university. Each university might have different portals but the steps remain the same. You can apply for I-20 no earlier than 90 days before the expiry of your EAD and no later than 21 days before your EAD expiry date.

5. Applying with USCIS: The process isn't over after you get your I-20. You need to submit an application with USCIS similar to how you did for your initial OPT by filing out the Form I-765 and paying the required fees.
