CDC protects America’s health safety and security, what I do to contribute to that is work on a team that helps to build the agencies capacity to protect the health and wellbeing of the responders before they leave, while they are in the field, and when
they return home. I was raised by a working class immigrant community here in the United States and the struggles that I witness here in the United States and abroad are the foundation for my passion for Public Health. My favorite project so far has been working to identify the multiple levels of factors that influence the wellbeing of responders in the field. These factors range from political insecurities do to demographic tensions to seasonal flooding, There are a number of things that I love about what I do first and foremost this is the home of translational research. You’re taken quality research and turning it into to evidence based action it’s like Public Health live you get to apart of the change that needs to happen. That’s a really an exciting thing. I can’t say that there is one path that led me there were a number of paths that intersected to make me the person I am today which seems to be a good fit for the CDC. I’m Tsega Gebreyesus I am CDC.
