Days after Umesh Pal, a key witness in the 2005 murder of BSP MLA Raju Pal was killed in a shootout in broad daylight, another accused in the shootout has been shot dead in an encounter by UP Police, in Prayagraj, on 27 February 2023. Accused mafia Atiq Ahmad's two minor sons were also taken into custody.
