What's up everybody, it's AJ with etrailer.com. Today we're checking out the Hollywood Racks, Destination E, gonna be a platform style bike rack and we're putting it on our 2022 Tesla Model Three. The destination E is gonna be a platform style bike rack. It's gonna hold the bike by the frame here and the tires. So you have the clamp that's gonna go around a frame, got the rubberized grip on there, so it's not gonna damage it. But you also have two straps here on the front tire and then one on the back tire.
Since it's focused for E-bikes, it's gonna be 70 pounds per bike. So that gives you a bunch of room to put one of those E-bikes on there, maybe two on there, just make sure you remove the batteries when you are putting on the rack. Now you can tilt the bike away from the vehicle while it's loaded up. It's not as important on our Tesla today. You can still open the trunk just fine, it doesn't get in the way, but I wanted to show you.
I'm just gonna loosen the handle now down here, push it forward, that's gonna release it and we'll push on the bar and push it away from the vehicle. Also have a ramp included with it. I do like this ramp. It is heavy duty, it feels like it. I don't have to worry about it wobbling around when you attach it to the bike rack like some of the other E-bike ramps.
So you can loosen the hand knob, that way you get it to the right height you need it. It looks like we're gonna be good right about there. I'll tighten down that hand knob at the bottom. You see it attaches right here at this point, we have the oval. It'll go over there.
That'll keep it in place. Even if I move it back and forth, it's not gonna fall right off on us, which is good. I don't want something that's gonna just fall off when I go to use it. So with it in place, we're gonna start moving the bike. All the straps are gonna function the same. We have the gray tag you just push on to loosen it, pull it out with the other hand. We have two on the front. We have the hand knob here where you can loosen that up to release the bike. One thing I like about it, it's got a built in lock in the hand knobs, so you can lock that up, that way nobody can loosen this or take your bikes. So just continue to turn this as it opens up the clamp. And once it's open enough, it'll slide off and you can push it to the back. Now we just back to bite off of the rack. Make sure the straps are clear of the wheels. Got one hand behind the seat and watch out for the pedals. You can easily just tilt this outta the way, so they won't hit and you just walk it down. One thing about the ramp though, is there's nowhere to store it on the rack. If you don't have any space in your vehicle, you're really limited. I recommend checking out the Yakima On-ramp. That one has storage space on the racks. You can just do a hand knob and it'll stay right there with it so that way you don't have to find space for it. Now let's get some measurements. So from the bumper to the furthest all point on the bike ride. It's about 34 and a half inches, sticks out. Now let's see how close it gets to the back of the Tesla. So I'm gonna be right about nine to 10 inches. So there's plenty of space back there. Now that's gonna change depending on what hitch you have. We have a stealth hitch on there, so it's gonna stick out just a little bit more. So that's why we got all the space back here. Okay, about seven and a half inches of ground clearance. So just be careful of that when you're going up steep driveways or hills. Another thing is the hand knob here that you use to tighten down the shank and the hitch. You wanna make sure that this is never facing down, 'cause that's gonna lower ground clearance. You don't it want sticking down. You want it off to the side. Now to take up some of that space sticking of the back of your vehicle, we can fold these arms down and fold the rack up towards the Tesla. So we're gonna undo these rubber straps, that's what holds these knobs in place. Lever, so I when do the lever there on both sides. Now I can take this, fold it down, push the levers back into place and replace that rubber strap. Another nice thing with the rubber straps is that you can just grab the handle here, lift it all the way up and then replace our pin. Now, we'll measure from the bumper to the furthest out point again. It's only gonna be 17 and a half inches,
