Today we’ll discuss about Inverse Definite Minimum Time over current relay or IDMT over current relay, Electromechanical CDG (Inverse) type. We know there are two types of IDMT over current relay i.e non-directional relay and directional over current relay. Non-directional relays are those operate in all direction of power flow when current is exceed the pick-up limit but in case of directional O/C Reay Power direction is important it is operate in particular direction of power flow so in this case power direction and pick-up current both condition should be satisfied for operation.
