After many months of anticipation, John Romero's brand new DOOM episode has finally arrived. But is it actually any good? Watch and find out!
A few extra thoughts:
- I enjoyed the episode's recurring themes like the "shootable eye" triggers, hellish cracks, and baphomet-wall exits; they helped give it a strong identity
- E5M4's "Crusher Maze" has gotten a lot of flak from the community, but I didn't have much of a problem with it; I like that it slows down the pace and presents an interesting puzzle to solve in order to proceed
- The ending felt a little anticlimactic; I intentionally left out footage of E5M8 in order to avoid spoilers, but I felt the WAD could've used a more clever and exciting finale
