Signs you are with a covert narcissist who plays the victim. When you know the signs of these 2 types of narcissism, you are better equipped to understand what kind of narcissist you are dealing with in your relationship. In this YouTube video, I discuss 2 types of narcissism, covert vulnerable narcissism vs grandiose narcissism.
Signs of covert narcissism are not easy to spot. Vulnerable narcissists will play off your sympathy and do what they can to play the victim and get you to disown your right to your own reality. Grandiose narcissism is easier to spot, although highly destructive in relationships. Narcissists in relationships work to undermine your sense of reality. They do this through various forms of narcissistic abuse. Narcissistic abuse recovery relies on your ability to gain knowledge and insights about what type of narcissist you are dating or dealing with.
Signs you are with a narcissist include confusion. The narcissist cannot keep their word. They say one thing and do another. Another sign you are with a covert narcissist is recognizing their pattern of pathological lying. Narcissists use crazymaking communication to cause you deep psychological and emotional confusion. Nothing makes sense when you are with a narcissist. What you feel does not match what you see.
Ways to recognize a covert or grandiose narcissist is to pay attention to what they say and what they do. If you are with a covert narcissist or grandiose narcissist, you are in a toxic relationship, and knowing when to let go is one of the first steps you can take to end the relationship with a narcissist and regain your sanity.
