The first ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) Express cargo rail trains arrived at their respective destinations of Selangor, Malaysia and Chongqing, China this week. The transit time was just under 14 days, faster than the sea freight route which could take up to three weeks. CNA’s Melissa Goh takes a look at how the newly launched service – which connects Malaysia, Thailand, Laos and China – will benefit the region.
