Nagpur-Mumbai Duronto Express Gets Derailed Near Titwala in Maharashtra, Several Trains Diverted

One engine and three coaches of the Nagpur-Mumbai Duronto Express derailed between Vasind and Asangaon stations.
Titwala, Aug 29: Nine coaches of Nagpur-Mumbai Duronto Express train number 12290 derailed near Titwala in Maharashtra on Tuesday morning, ANI reported. According to the reports, engine and nine coaches of the Nagpur-Mumbai Duronto Express derailed between Vasind and Asandewgaon stations. Central Railway Chief PRO Sunil Udasi said, "Loco and 7 coaches have derailed. No casualties, injuries according to the latest report." Some passengers have sustained injuries but no casualty has been reported so far. The mishap was reported around 6:30 AM. A rescue team has been dispatched from Kalyan.
Central Railway has tweeted that they have been arranging buses to bring the passengers to their destinations. The trains that have been diverted due to Nagpur-Mumbai Duronto Express derailment include CSMT-HS Nanded Tapovan Express and LTT-Bhagalpur Express.
Following the train derailment, trains going towards Mumbai have been suspended. A few days ago, six coaches of a local Mumbai train derailed near Mahim station on the Harbour Line. On August 23, 10 coaches of Delhi-bound Kaifiyat Express derailed in Auraiya, Uttar Pradesh, leaving nearly 100 passengers injured. Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu said that a dumper had hit the locomotive of the Kaifiyat Express which resulted in the derailment of the train. An unauthorised dumper crossed the railway fence and hit the locomotive of the Kaifiyat Express. As of now 25 passengers are reported injured," said Railway Ministry spokesperson Anil Saxena.
On August 19, Utkal Express, which was heading towards the town of Haridwar from Puri, derailed near Uttar Pradesh s Muzaffarnagar, killing 24 and injuring more than 156 people. The accident occurred around 5:46 PM near Khatauli station in the district. Following the accident, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu ordered an inquiry into the derailment.
Following the Utkal Express derailment, Uttar Pradesh police registered a criminal complaint against unknown people for causing deaths by negligence. Will not allow laxity in operations by the Board, Suresh Prabhu tweeted. It was later found that some track maintenance work was going on, on the tracks a few hours before the train derailed.
An audio clip was also recovered which indicated that the request of the ground staff to block the rail traffic for 20 minutes to carry out maintenance work was denied. In the audio clip, the Permanent Way Inspector (PWI) had asked for a 20-minute stoppage of all trains to replace a damaged part of the track on Saturday but his request was denied saying that there were a lot of trains and a stoppage could not be given at that time.
Taking moral responsibility for the train accidents, Suresh Prabhu had also offered to resign but was asked by the Prime Minister to wait .
