Pushpanjali is an offering of flowers to Hindu deities. Pushpanjali is the first dance in a Bharatha Natyam performance. It is the salutation to the lord of dance Nataraja, the Guru, the musicians and the audience. This music is composed by Madurai R Muralidharan, Ragam Jog, Adi Talam. After the offering of flowers, they continue with fast paced Nritta, forming complex patterns to showcase the aesthetic beauty and movement patterns of Bharatanatyam.
