The number of COVID-19 deaths in nursing homes and long-term care facilities across the United States has increased to 43 percent, new data shows. Data compiled by the Foundation for Research on Equal Opportunity think tank shows that New Hampshire, North Dakota, Rhode Island and Minnesota have the highest share of COVID deaths in nursing homes or assisted living facilities. Facilities in the country's north-east appear to have been hardest hit, according to data showing deaths per 10,000 long-term care facility residents. The figures are based on data of state-by-state deaths as of June 19. As of today, more than 120,000 Americans have died from coronavirus and the virus has infected more than 2.2 million.
