Clearing land was our first major achievement with our house build project. In May of 2020, we purchased 6 acres to build our future homestead on. The lot we purchased was fully wooded and the legal right-of-way was packed with farm trash and large trees. We started our journey with clearing the access road. We then hired a forestry consultant to help us with our timber harvest. We cleared less than 1 acre of land and selectively harvested the rest. We are completing this project debt-free which required us to do the logging clean up work ourselves. We ended up buying a skid steer as an investment and spent most of July 2021 cleaning up the tree tops. By the end of the summer we had a house site cleared and ready for our future home!

ABOUT US: We are Alex and Elaina, a couple in our 20s who are currently living on the 3-acre farm in southern Pennsylvania where Alex grew up. We have a garden, backyard chickens, and build or fix anything that we need to.
