The Basic Law Amendment Act has been gazetted in its entirety.
The controversial legislation was signed into law on the 20th of December after two of its clauses were delayed by three months in September.
The issues contained within the BELA Act, pertaining to the school admissions policy and mother tongue instruction, were the first real test of the GNU - with fears that differences between the ANC and DA would result in the implosion of the seventh administration, as we know it.
