YellowJackets Birdland Residency 06/23

I would like to thank the legendary group The Yellowjackets for their support, friendship and generosity for making us feel so welcome and part of the family this past week. When we embarked on this journey several years ago with Dane Alderson, we didn’t really know where it was going beyond putting the best damned 6 string we cold muster, into his very talented hands. Last year we delivered his Cremona Fretless 5 string and were blown away by how fast he incorporated it into the sonic landscape that is the Yellowjackets.
He had mentioned a few years ago that he wanted to also obtain a P bass style instrument and we had just completed our new RSVP4-22, he had mentioned using it for session work. About a month ago he received his bass and had hinted at using it with the band! That was honestly the last thing we thought he would use it for being that the bass chair had, for the most part, been utilizing extended range instruments since the Samurai Samba recording.
Needless to say we were pretty hyped over what he would do with it, if he used it, and how the band would respond to the sound of a little Ol’ Skool flat wound funk! Talking to Russell Ferrante and Will Kennedy backstage after the show, We could see how excited and receptive they were to it. We’re very happy to hear yet another NYBW instrument added to Dane’s arsenal and the tonal palette of our favorite band!
