Abstract:

Much of the value of a photonic integrated circuit (PIC) lies in its design and layout, which is in turn enabled by sophisticated software.

Luceda Photonics is a leading provider of PIC design software and associated services; the Luceda Photonics Design Platform enables users to leverage the Python programming language to design, simulate, and lay out PICs to quickly achieve their desired results. Luceda’s software is compatible with over 45 process design kits (PDKs) across more than 30 photonics foundries worldwide, enabling a wide range of PIC-based applications in a variety of material platforms.

Spark Photonics is an American PIC design services and software company that represents Luceda in North America.

In this talk, Dr. Matthew Delaney from Luceda Photonics and Mr. Eliezer Shahid from Spark Photonics will jointly present the Luceda Photonics Design Platform, including examples from cutting-edge applications.


Bio:

Dr. Matthew Delaney is a senior application engineer from Luceda Photonics who holds a PhD in integrated photonics from Southampton University where he studied phase change materials for photonic switching.

Eliezer “Laser” Shahid is a photonics layout engineer from Spark Photonics who holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Delaware and has previously worked in thin film lithium niobate and graphene material systems.
