The paper test is part of the Revised Upper Limb Movement (RULM) test that we have to take to test our movement sometimes before being prescribed treatment. Part of the test is to rip a piece of paper. Before this medication, I thought I could rip it no problem, but when given paper, I couldn't. This is the first time I was able to rip the paper, just a few days after starting Evrysdi. I cried and said it was stupid not because I thought I was stupid, but because I was so happy I could rip a piece of paper and I felt stupid crying over such a thing. I am very happy that I am improving and it does not upset me, I am just so shocked every time something new happens.
My medical journey with the SMA medication Evrysdi (Risdiplam). Evrysdi is the third FDA approved treatment for SMA (Spinral Muscular Atrophy, a type of Muscular Dystrophy) in the U.S. It is the only at-home, once a day, oral (tastes like strawberries!) liquid medication for SMA.
