A Swiss glacier is melting so fast that it has been covered with tarpaulin to slow the rate. Parts of the Gurschengletscher glacier are blanketed with tarps near the peak of 2,961-meter-high Mount Gemsstock. The glacier in Andermatt, Switzerland, is just the latest to be given the treatment. The Rh?ne Glacier has been covered every year since 2010 during the summer. The blankets are stuffed with a heavy-duty fleece material insulating the ice and reflecting back sunlight.
