How winter in Moscow and the Southern Urals differ?
In Moscow, snow usually melts very quickly, so the next day streets are muddy. However, when it is snowing as fluffy as today you should enjoy the moment. And many people do so.
As you can see, In the central streets snow is melting , cars are rolling it out, and besides, municipal services are actively cleaning it up. However, due to the heavy snowfall on the small streets, the winter mood will still remain for the time being.
I sometimes hear news that due to heavy snowfall, there has been a transport collapse in one or another country in Europe. For people of Russia, this sounds strange, because if transport stopped due to snow in Russia, then life would also be suspended altogether in our country. Of course, there are times when the roads are covered with snow so that it is not possible to pass, but they are promptly cleared in as soon as possible. I'm not even talking about Siberia.
Let's visit a place not very distant from Moscow - the Southern Urals. This is a small town of Troitsk. Those of you who watched film "Babylon AD" had the opportunity to see Troitsk railway station.
Sometimes here, as in other parts of the Urals, there are snowy winters. Look- how much the local snow differs from Moscow. Here it is white-white. The contrast with Moscow is simply striking.
In general, in such weather it is best to travel by car, preferably an SUV (that is why they are so popular in the Russian regions). But look, although the roads are covered with snow there is no traffic collapse.
Usually in the Urals or Siberia snow once fell doesn't melt. That turns winter into the real winter.
By the way, one of the Silk Road paths used to pass through Troitsk. Europe and Asia met here. That is why Troitsk coat of arms depicts a camel. I don’t know about you, but for me a camel is not at all associated with snow.
