Welcome back to another episode of Beers with Matt and the Sner! In this episode we have a big boy for you - an imperial stout from Evil Twin Brewing - Even More Jesus.
The first thing to remember is that one of us really likes dark beers…and one of us isn’t the biggest fan. The second thing to remember is that just a few days ago, after having sampled a few other beers, one of us who wasn’t impressed with this beer this particular time around, really, really liked Even More Jesus. In fact, we had to take it away from him and put it away so it would be available for a cogent wives at a later time.
Anyway. As a review, there are several different kinds of stouts. Imperial, or Russian, stouts are often referred to as “double” stouts. Imperial stouts often had 10 pounds of hops per barrel, leading to an end product weighing in at over 10% ABV. Imperial stouts we’re thought to be sent to Russian courts of Catherine the Great, hence the Russian stout.
Which brings us to Even More Jesus, which is a 12% ABV & 75 IBU stout. With such a high alcohol content, it IS sweet. The Sner really enjoyed it; Matt couldn’t finish it and definitely couldn’t chug it.
