As we've been reporting in our news bulletins - The SABC is approaching the Labour Court with an application to have irregular appointments and promotions declared invalid. This emanates from the 2014 Public Protector's report, "When Governance and Ethics Fail"
Meanwhile, in a separate development - the broadcaster has notified its staff that it will proceed with its implementation of Section 189 of the Labour Relations Act and may retrench close to one-thousand permanent employees and may not renew the contracts of one-thousand-200 freelancers as part of its restructuring process...We are now joined by the Chairperson of the SABC board - Bongumusa Makhathini.
