There is no need to be nervous during the grouting process, anyone can do it and I’m sure you can do it too. Good luck and enjoy ;)
1. Step number one would be to get everything ready. You will need the grout that we have given you along with a plate to put the grout on. I would recommend wearing gloves if your hands are sensitive and grabbing a spoon to mix the grout and a sponge to apply the grout. You will need water and a place you won’t mind getting a bit dirty.
2. Now before we start the grouting, I just want yo remind you that you need to wait a day or two at most for the glue to dry and the pieces to fully stick to the glass.
3. If you have already waited a few days then you are ready to start. First of all we need to get the grout ready. Put all the grout on the plate and start adding a few drops of water. There is no need to rush so you don’t need put all the water at once. Pour some water, mix it then pour some more. We need the grout to be like a pancake mix, not too thick but also not too thin. You don’t have to worry if your grout feels too watery, you will just need to apply it a few more times.
4. Now that your grout is ready and you feel ready to start, get your sponge and get a bit of the grout. Grab your lamp and apply a bit of the grout on the lamp. Our goal here is that we need the grout to hold the pieces together so that even even after 10 years, your lamp will look as good. I recommend applying rather than wiping the grout onto the lamp. Apply the grout all over the lamp until you can’t see an empty spot. Now a few beads might fall out as you’re doing it but that is normal, no need to worry as long as the tiles are still there.
5. If you feel like the grouting is enough, then you can set it aside for it to dry. While the grout dries, get a bucket of water to wash off the excess grout on the tiles and the pieces so that the colours can really be seen. After 10 mins have passed, get the sponge again, wash it in the water and start wiping the excess grout. Be very gentle in this process. You don’t have to make it squeaky clean, once you notice the tiles and the beads you can take a break and come back again after 10 mins. Repeat this process until you are satisfied with the way your lamp looks.
6. Now that the grouting is done, you are ready to show off your skills and creativity. But before that, wait a few hours or perhaps even a day for the grout to completely dry.
7. And congratulations you have successfully made a mosaic lamp from scratch. You can now light it up and let the whole world see you shine!
