In this video, I build a step stool starting from a large slab of cherry that had too many cracks and defects to use for a larger project. The joinery is wedged through tenons with walnut wedges for contrast. The tenons were cut with a dado stack at the table saw and the cheeks were cut at the bandsaw. The mortises were roughed out with a Forstner bit on the drill press and finished by chopping to the lines with a chisel. I added some curves for a subtle Asian feel to the design. This project was finished with a coat of shelac and three coats of water borne semigloss polyurethane. Please enjoy!
