새해 첫날 이스탄불 클럽서 총격테러, 39명 사망
Turkey started the new year on a rather somber note.
An apparent lone wolf attack at a nightclub in Istanbul in the early hours of Sunday took at least 39 lives and wounded 69 others.
The assailant has not been captured nor identified by authorities, though witnesses say they heard the man screaming in Arabic.
According to Turkey's Interior Minister a man dressed in a Santa costume first attacked and killed a police officer guarding the club, where hundreds of people were celebrating New Year's Eve.
The terrorist then used a long-range weapon to fire at the crowd, some of whom jumped into the sea nearby to escape.
So far, of the 39 killed, only 21 have been identified.
It's believed five are Turkish citizens and the rest are foreigners.
