Srinivasa Ramanujan, born on 22 December 1887, was a world-renowned mathematical genius who made extraordinary contributions to mathematics. A stamp picturing Ramanujan was released by the Government of India in 1962, the 75th anniversary of Ramanujan's birth, commemorating his achievements in the field of number theory. In remembrance, 22 December was declared as the National Mathematics Day in 2012.
