I'll say that the campground is along the river, and it is in a very beautiful setting. They also have alot of full hookup sites here.
Cellular Service is good with Verizon Download Speeds at 13 and Firstnet Download Speeds at 79... Yes, 79!
As far as amenities go, there is a nice looking swimming pool but remember all State Parks have closed the pools for the last two years due to covid. Other things to do around the campground include playing horse shoes, playing volleyball, and basketball. There are a number of nice pavillions as well as some nice looking day areas to throw a picnic together. They also do have a laundry facility and a nice number of restrooms, but only one bath house is currently open, which is pretty normal for winter at TN State Parks. There is a large sandbox near the park office for the kids to play in.
The negative aspects of this campground are unfortunately a long list. I'll start with saying that we entered into the campground at night, because unlike a lot of you people that talk about the "rule of 3" us work'in folk can't do that, especially on a weekend trip. In the winter it does get dark about 6pm. The campground was very hard to navigate in the dark and the signage was very poor in my opinion. There were random signs on a bear that said what was in the main rows, but those signs weren't at the road, so I still had no idea what I was looking for. I also didn't choose a pull through site (which is what this campground is mainly made up of.) The reason I chose a back in site was strictly because my handicap discount doesn't apply to "premium sites". Personally, I don't need a sewer hookup for a weekend so it was fine with me. Even knowing the general layout of the campground before hand it was hard to navigate in the dark so I did drive around the entire pull through loop, knowing that my loop was at the end. Even when driving around the loop I wasn't sure where the road was, there is a small side road that goes behind that bath house, which at first I thought was the loop, but in fact it was just an area that is just tent sites... needless to say, I'm glad I figured it out at the last second. The back in section was a lot smaller than my initial impression from when I booked the campground. I found a list of site sizes on the main board coming into the park that states that the shortest RV site is 30'. I feel that's being very generous. I wouldn't recommend these back in sites at the beginning or anything larger than a 20' trailer. I did get my 30' fifth wheel in but I wouldn't have been able to do it if there was a camper in the site in front of me. I also just barely fit, but it was because the electric post and water hydrant blocked my living room slide. If it was not for this I could have backed up another 5-10 feet. Now we are the only camper in this entire area so I felt ok that we were even with the road as I feel another rig coming in is highly unlikely (since most people flock to the pull throughs anyway.) However, for safety, I did leave my docking lights on the front of the fifth wheel turned on the entire weekend. I will say I parked in another site in front of our camper, and haven't had any issues for doing so at this time. Now let's talk about these pull through sites. The pull through sites are horribly laid out in my honest opinion. They tried to cram way too many of them in an area that is way too small. These are layed out in rows with the first row being back in sites to the right. The rest are all pull through sites and it sounds great on paper. But looking at these sites I don't feel that any RV that is 30' or longer could actually make these turns, especially with the tail swing and trees that are in the area. Essentially there are roads splitting the rows, but each site is essentially straight in line of 3. So in my opinion if you have the site that is nearest to the water, and there is a camper that is in the site behind you... let's just say you aren't going to have fun getting into your site with anything larger than a camper van.
Recommended Site...
There is only one site that I can recommend here if your camper is 30' long. This would be site 54. Site 54 still has a decent slope that is nose down.
