Reference ruler & grid
How do the reference ruler and grid work? If you have resized an object, select Tools menu -- Use Selection for Grid, select the object, select Ruler Mode, then select "Reference". Make sure to check "Use Grid" as well. Because reference mode is selected, it scales the object correctly to the grid. You will notice that the resized object will show how many times you have increased the size. The selected scale persists until you select another object to use as the reference grid. The reference grid uses an object's dimensions as its basis for measurement. This tool is especially useful if you are building multiples of an object, and want to align them correctly. Remember, your reference settings do not save across sessions, each time you log in you will have to reset your reference.
