The three major products used for candle making are soy, paraffin, and palm oil. Paraffin is a byproduct of petroleum, a non-renewable resource. Palm oil is harvested from trees that are renewable, but are grown in large plantations that often lead to widespread deforestation. Soy candles are made from a sustainable resource, soybeans. Soybeans are grown in Ohio and one of the products is soy wax.
