One slide-filled lap in the ex-Vasek Polak 1970 BMW 2002ti Alpina owned by BMW of North America. Filmed at the 2014 Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Driver is Sam Smith of Road & Track magazine. Camera is mounted on his helmet, just above his eyes.

The car weighs just over 2000 pounds and makes over 200 hp from a highly tuned, single-cam, naturally aspirated BMW M10 four. It has a rare close-ratio factory five-speed, short gearing, and a vintage setup that means sideways pretty much all the time.
