When you hear sports medicine, you may think of a pro athlete getting injured in the big game. But what about you? When should you see a sports medicine doctor?
Hi, I’m Dr. Dani Wooldrik from CHI Health and I’m a Sports Medicine physician.
Sports medicine doctors are usually primary care physicians who did extra training in sports medicine. We treat and prevent injuries related to the bones and muscles of the body. Many of these injuries are caused by activities and movements we do on a day-to-day basis. But you don’t have to be an athlete to see a physician like me.
Sports medicine physicians can also help with nutrition, concussion, and prevention of injuries. A lot of the time issues can be treated without surgery.
If you have an ache or pain that’s not improving and it’s affecting your day to day life, a sports medicine doctor may be able to help.
